From Across the Pond

"Bauer" (no, not Jack Bauer) is another good band from Manchester that I happened to stumble across on MySpace. Check out their video...

You Might be a Redneck...

A group of us were sitting in the lunch room at work when the conversation turned to weddings and how expensive they can be. One of my co-workers, who is in her early twenties, made this comment.

"My dad, bless his heart, told me that he was only paying for two things for my wedding...a Bible and a keg of beer. And if any relatives or neighbors wanted to come to the wedding, he would just open up the garage door so they could watch."

In Honor of American Idol...here's some real talent

Mika plays live at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Preston. Somewhere in England, I assume. Such talent. He is simply amazing.

Oh, yeah and Jordin Sparks just won American Idol.

No comparison.

A Cornucopia of Craziness

I think I'm going to have another reality show meltdown. Tonight was "The Lot" where wanna be directors compete for a real director's job...interesting but I think I would like to see more of their work rather than their personalities. And why are they all young and pretty? Oh, yeah, I forgot...only young, pretty people are creative. How silly of me....which reminds me there is going to be another show about a young (maybe 25), handsome boy gets to pick a girl from two groups of women. One group is comprised of clueless young, pretty girls while the other group is older (can we say 46?) well-preserved by plastic surgery mature women. Lets see...hmm, I'm just guessing here but I think he will choose a young pretty girl. No need to watch that one.

America's Got Talent is back. Glad to see that Sharon Osbourne is a celebrity judge. I would watch it just to see her. Oh, and The Hoff. I just hope a singer doesn't win it this time. We already have American Idol...let's let other talent have a chance. Like juggling.

And Last Comic Standing is coming back. Amen.

A Mika Favorite

This is one of my favorite Mika songs. Thank the baby Jesus for YouTube or I would never get to watch him sing!

Friday NIght Lights

After three more days with no internet, we finally discovered that the problem was our modem. Hopefully there will be no more "internet-free" days.

We went to watch the Billings Outlaws indoor football game last night. So exciting! The Outlaws won making their record 2 - 4. We have season tickets so we get to sit in the same seats on the home-side where all the other fanatics sit. Watching the other fans makes the game even more interesting with their contagious excitement and strange behavior. For example, in the middle of our row sits a young man who has to get up at least twenty times during the game. We sit on the aisle so we can't help but notice him as he squeezes past us. He comes back with a beer then fifteen minutes later leaves again. He comes back empty handed, sits down for another fifteen minutes, then gets up only to return with another beer. We figure he must go get a beer, drink it, use the bathroom, then go get another beer. I think he would be better off watching the game from the beer garden next to the men's bathroom or investing in some Detrol AL.

In the next row of seats across the aisle sits a lady who is older than I am. I swear, she can out-yell anyone there. She stands up, screams and waves her little blue and white pompom. (**note to self--I really need to get a pompom**)

I noticed a man walking down the aisle steps to his seat. I don't know if it is just me or not but the steps in the Metra are some of the wickedest, steepest steps I have ever climbed. This combination of steep stairs plus alcohol makes for some hair raising spills. Last night, a gentleman carrying a plastic glass of beer slipped on the steps and beer went everywhere. He just laughed it off.

Another man was carrying a three year old child in his left arm while a carrier with four glasses of beer was unsteadily held in his right. The child had a bucket of popcorn clenched with both hands. This caused my imagination to run wild while he descended the steep stairs. What would happen if he slipped?....

1. Would he drop the beer to save the child?  (possibly)
2. Would he drop the child to save the beer?  (more likely)
3. Would he drop both the child and the beer then scream at the child for causing him to spill the beer? (most likely)

Luckily for the child, the man never slipped. (unlike Baldwin and the Hoff...hey, wait, that sounds like a great name for a new television series..."Baldwin and the Hoff"!)

Duck, Duck, Goose

I took my camera to town last Saturday to get some pictures of the ducks. I didn't see any females or ducklings, only males. The females must have been nesting.

Swimming_ducks

The pond isn't the most beautiful sight. I think it was just a sinkhole made when the construction boom happened in this area. But it isn't bad...if you can stand the smell. There are way too many ducks for the size of the pond but why leave when travelers in the local motels give you food. These ducks aren't stupid!

Geese

This shot was cute because the ducks and geese where swimming together. Not many geese show up here, I have only seen two or three. Notice Denny's in the background...I don't recommend ordering the Duck a L'orange.

Glass_building

Lastly, here is the glass building that I work in. You can't see in but once inside, you can see out. It's funny to watch people walk up to the door if they have never been inside before. Most of them check their reflection in the glass before they open the door. At times, I catch myself doing the same thing even though I know the people inside can see me doing it!
