Maxwell Dorian, Valedictorian

Car-tunes (me and Mika)

OK, so I'm totally obsessed.

Mika

I have been listening to Mika's "Life in Cartoon Motion" everyday since it was released in March. I can't help it...the music is so happy and fulfilling that you crave it. Especially on the drive to work...it peps me up to face the day. And on the drive home...it cheers me up. I sing along (very loudly!) in my car and bounce up and down to the beat. So if you see someone bouncing and singing as they drive down the highway, it's probably just me and Mika!

Too bad he's not that popular in America (yet!). But then we always are a wee bit behind the British when it comes to good music.

Good News for People Who Love Good News

For all of those out there wondering what my good news might be...(no, I'm not going to be Grandma...yet), here it is...

(drum roll please)

Matty Boy asked his girlfriend to marry him and she said yes!!! I would have mentioned this earlier but I wanted to wait until all the relatives, etc. knew before I unleashed it to the world.

Matty met Jennifer in Lincoln, NE where he now working. We had the opportunity to meet Jennifer on our visit to Nebraska last January. She is very quiet and has a sweet personality. But most of all she loves Matty and cares about him. They haven't set a wedding date as of yet, it probably won't be for at least a year. They want to get married in the Catholic church that Jennifer's family attends, but Matty is not Catholic so they will have to take classes and such, so that might take awhile. I will keep everyone up to date and the happenings as the big day approaches.

Here is a picture of the happy couple...

Photoblogging

I really should bring my camera to work with me everyday. Not to take pictures of my co-workers but to catch all the action that goes on outside the bank where I work. The outside world is a mixture of high-drama, sadness and the joy of new life.

Right across the street from where I work is a duck pond and the building I work in is completely enclosed in one-way glass. So it is almost like working outside. Which is nice in the springtime because of all the duck antics which have been going on. This is my first spring working in this particular building so I am learning first hand of all the duck drama. And trauma.

The sad side is that it is not fun to watch ducks mate...which they do frequently in the springtime. When attempting to mate, the male ducks will almost kill the females. We are like the duck police. When we see a female getting picked on by five to six male ducks, we will run outside and chase them off. It doesn't do much good because five minutes later, the male ducks come back and pick on the female more. I have seen at least two female ducks killed so I am sure there have been many, many more.

If a female duck is able to live through mating, then she will lay her eggs. The eggs hatch and here come the little ducklings. We saw our first group of ducklings today, waddling after their mother. This is why I need to bring my camera. They are soooo cute. But the sad thing is that the duck pond is right along one of the busiest streets in town. Sometimes the mother duck will lead her ducklings across the street. Most of the time people will stop (if they are able) but sometimes a pickup or two will swerve to try and hit the ducks as they cross the road. Just like it was some sort of weird video game.

Another funny story about glass buildings and birds. Since the glass is one-way, we can see out but it is like a mirror to those who look in. For the past two days, there has been a robin literally throwing himself at the glass. I believe he thinks his image is another bird. It is just unnerving because I will be sitting at my desk, quietly working away when all at once...THUNK! The robin hits the glass. He lands on the grass, gets up and shakes himself. Then....THUNK! He throws himself at the glass again. This goes on for hours at a time. And it doesn't help to chase him away because he comes right back.

I could go on and on with bird stories. I never realized working in a glass building would be so exciting!

No Internet!!

We haven't had the best of luck with our internet connection for the last few days. And all this juicy gossip that I have to catch up on!

I placed a tip jar on my blog to help raise money to buy a one-way ticket to France for Alec Baldwin. He is always threatening talking about going there and I feel it is our duty as Americans to make sure he gets his chance to go. And it would be awfully nice of us to also get a one-way ticket for the ex-Mrs. Alec Baldwin, preferrably the seat right next to him.

Poor, Poor, Little Alec Baldwin

You know, I was in a semi-mellow type of mood tonight...well, that is until I listened to this piece of crap. To get the full effect of poor, poor, little Alec Baldwin's temper tantrum you have to actually hear his ten minute phone message to his 12 or 11 year old (he obviously can't remember her age) daughter.

First off, I believe he used the word "me" 150 times..."look what this is doing to me"..."how do you think this affects me". Poor, poor, little Alec Baldwin. I would really feel sorry for him if I didn't HATE the SOB so much. For the last ten years, I have NEVER watched ANYTHING with him in it. Ever since he threatened to move to France if Bush won the presidency. Of course, he never did move to France. Poor, poor, little Alec Baldwin. What a sorry waste of perfectly good breathable air.

I can relate to his daughter. I, too, was raised with a sorry excuse of a sperm donor. I didn't talk to my sperm donor from the time I was ten until I was seventeen. It was then I happened to see him (in a bar...big shocker there) and after a little discussion his last words to me were, "you are nothing but a little bitch." I have not spoken to him in thirty years and when he dies I will dance on his grave.

I am sorry for being so angry but I wish all the Alec Baldwins of the world could just see what it does to their children when they act like this. How it makes their children feel. Of course, it was obvious by his rant that he could care less what his daughter felt...he only wanted to let her know how HE was feeling. The best thing they could do would be to TAKE HIS DAUGHTER AWAY AND NEVER LET HIM NEAR HER AGAIN.

And yes, poor, poor, little Alec Baldwin...if your daughter is a "thoughtless little pig" WHAT DOES THAT MAKE YOU???????????????

There was blood and a single gunshot...

I am very happy to say that some people did miss me! I didn't realize the extreme dedication and loyalty of the members of the "Pandora Zowada Fan Club". Thanks guys!

Now for some fun news. Well, actually I have some very good news but I have to wait before I blab it all over the 'sphere. Since it is family related news I have to wait until I am sure the entire family knows. (Sorry fan club) This news is just a little funny that my husband heard over the radio concerning the "Imus" incident.

By now, I am sure everyone has heard the uproar over the lyrics in music thanks to the "Imus" incident. My own personal opinion is that if you don't like the lyrics in the music, then don't buy the CD. Money wins every game in life. If no one buys the music then they will quit making it. No artist makes music and then gives it away. My husband was listening to talk radio the other day (I think it was Glenn Beck, not sure) and they were discussing (jokingly) if there was ANY musician alive today who actually made music that wouldn't be offensive to anyone. Lo and behold, they came up with BARRY MANILOW! (I can think of a couple more non-offensive groups but I digress). However, after some discussion, they decided that in one of his songs (Copacabana) a shooting takes place and someone is killed. That could be considered offensive. I had to laugh. So I guess the point to my story is that you can find something offensive in ANY song if you look hard enough! Even a Barry song!

And remember, Elvis, the Beatles, Buddy Holly, etc. were all considered "offensive" in their day as well. I do find some of today's music in extremely bad taste (for me) but I won't stand in the way of the artist's creativity. The sad thing is there is SOOO much beautiful music that is not offensive but doesn't get the recognition it deserves. You won't find it on the top of the charts but you can find it.

Silly Love Songs

I was listening to one of my older, obscure CD's as I was driving home tonight, Dan Fogelberg's Greatest Hits. There is a line in the song Make Love Stay that has to be the strangest line I have ever heard in a love song..."But mystery's a thing not easily captured and once deceased not easily exhumed." It just hit me as strange. Actually the whole CD makes me cry especially if I haven't heard it for awhile. Songs like Longer, Leader of the Band, and Same Old Lang Syne. So to counteract the sadness, I had to plug in Mika for a minute. Ahh...a day without Mika is like a day without sunshine.

Oh yeah, I decided to try blogging again. Did anyone miss me?
