And Yet Another New Look

After talking with my computer guru, Jough, I decided to change the look of my blog yet again. This one is just a template for now. That pink thing I created was a monstrosity (it's alive!!) I know I need to get with it and update all my links. I know some most of them have probably changed. I feel more in a bloggy mood lately so hopefully that will be accomplished.

To continue the conversation regarding mySpace, I notice that I neglected to tell my mySpace address. It is the ever-original www.myspace.com/terrestrialball.  You can't find my page by doing a search of the name Pandora because there are 875 other Pandora's on mySpace. If you narrow the search down to 50 miles around my zip code, you can narrow the search down to 2. And neither one is me. AND thank heavens I'm not this one!

And if you like the catchy tune that accompanies my mySpace page, it is courtesy of the one and only Dr. Zesta.

Yes, mySpace is good for a few laughs!

Tis the Season

Isn't this the most hideous look my blog has had so far? I must be in a "pink" stage. Or maybe I'll just use this as my blog's Halloween costume. Ah well, I'll change it again in no time. At least I made the font nice and big so us old fogies can read it.

I'm trying the NaNoWriMo again. I think the last time I tried it, I wrote 625 of the 50,000 words required. I don't even think my blog consists of 50,000 words and look how many years it took for me to get that done.

I am also now officially a college dropout. I tried taking the two classes that I had signed up for last spring. Last spring was two jobs ago. My current job really does a number on my brain cells and I am so tired by the time I get home that I have no energy to work on homework. A couple of weeks ago, I sat and stared at a computer monitor filled with algebra equations and my stomach was tied in knots. I wondered why in the world I was putting myself through this. I guess it wasn't worth it anymore.

I also tried doing a mySpace page. Man, I am too old for that. Or maybe I just like nice blogs that don't scream and blink with large ads. I felt like I was going to have an epileptic fit before I was finished creating it. Everytime I see flashing ads, I am reminded of the movie "The Andromeda Strain" where the doctor is running down the hallway but sees the flashing red light and has a fit. That's what mySpace reminds me of. Plus those darn little smilie ads that scream "Helloooo" at you in an evil voice. Or maybe that was a hallucination caused by the epileptic fit I was having at the time.

Depressing thought for the day...my husband was listening to the radio today while they were performing the annual "digging of the sugar beet" and the station he normally listens to was PLAYING CHRISTMAS SONGS! YOU DON'T PLAY CHRISTMAS SONGS IN OCTOBER!!!

Life, Links, and Such

I am getting more comments on my cooking blog than I am getting on this one! It's sort of like the olden days when families sat down together around the kitchen table to eat and share the day's events. Only now it is the family coming together to comment on a blog that will be centered around food. Time marches on.

I had some suggestions on different titles for the cooking blog. I am using Pass the Potatoes, Please for now. If anyone has any other ideas for a title, leave a comment. Then I think I will use one of those fancy voting polls, like Sam uses on his blog, to have people vote for a title.

Other news...Dr. Zesta's Testarossa (aka TheChad) has a mySpace artist's page. It is great because you can listen to some new tunes as well as leave a comment. My favorite line..."Dr. Zesta Recorded in Guest Bedroom Studios, next to the bathroom".  Rock on, Dr. Zesta, rock on!

Also, remember Jared...my blog mentor and the person responsible for getting me addicted to blogging? Well, he is now blogging from Europe! His new blog is Nur Ein Wort and he has some awesome pictures on there as well as his words of wisdom. Go check it out.

RAINBOW BRIDGE

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth,
It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors.
Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows,
hills and valleys with lush green grass.

When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.
There is always food and water and warm spring weather.
The old and frail pets are made young again.
Those who are maimed are made whole again and they play all day.

There is only one thing missing.

They are not with their special person who loved them on earth.
So each day the run and play until the day comes when one suddenly looks up.
The nose twitches! The ears are up!
The eyes are staring! And this one suddenly runs from the group!

You have been seen and when you and your special friend meet,
you take them in your arms and embrace.
Your face is kissed again and again,
and you look once more into the eyes of your trusted friend.

And you cross the Rainbow Bridge together,
never again to be separated.

No Explanation

I know I haven't been the best of bloggers right now. I don't even have a good explanation except that I simply didn't feel like I had anything post worthy to write about. I mean things have been happening, just not exciting things. But my kids and my good blog buddy, Sam, have been wondering what I've been up to. So I thought I better get with it!

First of all...I don't know if anyone remembers but I used to post recipes on another Geocities account that I used. I had to post them in html and it was a pain to keep up. I no longer have that account with Geocities so that website is no more. So I thought, using my Typepad account, I could simply make another blog for my recipes. It's so much easier to type a post in Typepad then to have to code all the html. Thus, the creation of Terrestrial Ball Recipes or Pass the Potatoes, Please. I only have one recipe on there so far but I want to try to post a few per week. Mostly for my boys but anyone can use them. If they dare....  :-)

And work is going swimmingly. I don't know if I even posted about this or not but I have yet another new job. Well, new job, previous company. My job at the "large banking company" lasted all of six weeks (they jokingly called me a corporate spy!...at least, I think they were joking...) After a month with "the large banking company", I was offered a new job with my former employer. The only reason I left was because I wanted something different so they asked me if I would like to come back and learn a new area. I jumped at the chance. So now I work in the Real Estate Department at the office in Billings. It is great because I get to learn a new area and yet work with the same small company. I tell people I came back because I was homesick. And that isn't too far from the truth!

I am taking two college classes this fall. If I want to get my Bachelor's degree, I need to take all of my required courses. So I am taking Algebra and General Science. I am doing well considering the last time I had any algebra was 30 years ago! I don't know if I will continue on or not. I am getting to the point where I think I am getting burned out with school. I did accomplish what I set out to do in the beginning...that is, get my Associate degree. So anything now is just icing on the cake.

I will try to post more often now that "The Summer from the Bowels of Hell" is over. I freak out over fire anyway and this summer was the worst I have ever seen in my life. Worse than '88 which was previously dubbed "The Year of the Fire". Now that '06 will be known as "The Year of the Fires", '88 will be renamed "The Year Yellowstone Park Burned Down."

And I do not want to talk about '89..."The Year of the Grasshopper". Ick!

It does feel good to post again.
